Housing

At our November meeting Linda Ellen, Jane Harrison and Cathy Caves, Housing Officers from Milton Keynes Council, gave a presentation about Housing Allocations and Supply and answered questions.

There are two routes to get Council hosuing:-

There is no entitlement to social housing.

The Council has to prioritise the allocation of the limited supply of Council housing.

Older peoples housing was excluded from the ‘right to buy’ scheme, which has resulted in the reduction in the availability of Council housing.

Housing demand – 11,104 people came in with a housing issue. There were 1,1924 hosuing options interviews with 1045 households placed in band 1 need.

Homeless There were 730 homeless interviews and the Council accepted full homeless duty in 414 cases.

There is a shortfall of 200 properties a year.
